„AKTION REGEN“ (Action Rain) is an Austrian help organization, which is supported by donors – for the most part by means of „raindrops“- small contributions transferred by standing bank orders. Emphasis of our activities is on the establishment of health centers and clinics in developing countries and the support of special projects for women. The word „rain“ in our name symbolizes the continuing help through the passing on of understandable knowledge, especially in the area of family planning.

Dr. Maria Hengstberger, Viennese gynecologist, development aid worker and founder of AKTION REGEN, says: “To pass on knowledge means to pass on freedom. This is especially true in the area of family planning in developing countries. For where there is no money for bread, there is no money for contraceptives. In order for all women, also women who cannot read or write, to recognize their fertile and infertile days, I developed the Birth Control Necklace.”
